The Requirements

Our latest project involved constructing a state-of-the-art endodontist clinic within a challenging space at 2 Mooltan Ave, Macquarie Park. The site presented unique challenges, including structural beams under the slab which complicated the dental drainage system design. The placement of dental chairs and necessary infrastructure like the kitchen and plant room demanded innovative solutions to accommodate essential services and ensure operational efficiency.

The Design

To overcome the structural challenges, we elevated the floor level to align with the exterior, using a structural screed mix that was pumped in from a truck. This adjustment allowed us to embed cabling for dental chairs and reception areas within the screed, concealed in conduits. Additional conduits were installed in anticipation of future technological updates.

The design also featured a CBCT room outfitted with lead-lined plasterboard and a robust lead-lined door with a glass viewing panel to ensure safety and compliance with health regulations. To mitigate noise, the plant equipment was strategically relocated to the basement, significantly reducing the need for extensive acoustic insulation.

Water control was streamlined with a main switch located near reception, enabling easy shutdown to prevent flooding risks after hours. The ceiling was raised to align with the existing shopfront glass height, posing a challenge to integrate mechanical ventilation, electrical systems, and plumbing alongside mounted microscopes and TVs.

The Build

The construction phase was meticulously planned to accommodate the complex design elements while minimising disruptions to the surrounding areas. Our team worked efficiently to ensure that all structural and technological integrations were executed flawlessly, adhering to the detailed plans and specifications.

The Result

Completed on schedule by the end of December 2023 and within budget, the new endodontist clinic not only meets all functional requirements but also exudes a modern and welcoming atmosphere. The clinic is equipped with advanced dental technology, optimised for both patient comfort and operational efficiency. The thoughtful design and high-quality construction have transformed a challenging space into a premier dental facility at 2 Mooltan Ave, Macquarie Park.
